Due to the large number of coffeeshops within the Centre of Amsterdam we have
divided the city centre into 4 zones : Red Light, Centre, Centrum West,
Centre East. With the areas outside the City centre being zoned in an
additional 5 areas: Oud West, South, East, North & The Rest all the
rest of the coffeeshops within the City of Amsterdam that are not on
the UCG map.

Reviewer
Becoming a reviewer allows you to rate any Amsterdam coffeeshop, all you need is a valid email address. Become a reviewer.
A
reviewer may only post 1 review per coffeeshop with the ability for
that review to be updated and edited at any time by reloging into the
particular coffeeshop review form.
If you wish to terminate your UCG reviewer account please send an email to logout@smokersguide.com
including your login name, password & registered email account. A
confirmation will be sent to your email account within 48 hours

submit a review, open the particular coffeeshop index card that you
wish to review and press the REVIEW COFFEESHOP icon in the top right
hand corner.

The reviews posted are personal opinions based on 6 key areas:
1. The quality of the "Smoking" menu.
2. The atmosphere/decor of the shop.
3. Quality of staff service.
4. Overall impressions.
5. Types of customers/social atmosphere.
6. Music selection.
In
addition to these areas, up to 16 other variables are used to rate each
shop. Every review includes areas for comments which are of "free and
open nature".

A coffeeshop review is made up of the independent reviews posted by the

that use the coffeeshop. Each reviewer only able to post 1 review per
coffeeshop & may update their review at any time.

guide to the average rating that the particular coffeeshop has received
from the reviewers. To see more detailed information press the coffee
shops name and you will be linked to the coffeeshops index card.
A
full joint represents a high overall score; a roach (joint butt)
represents a poor score. Any coffee shop (marijuana cafe) that has no
joint icon has received no reviews.

What is a coffeeshop (marijuana cafe)?

Buying
weed and hash in Amsterdam barely differs from buying a beer. There are
over 175 coffeeshops (marijuana cafes) within the city and all have
signs saying "coffeeshop", with a green and white sticker somewhere in
the front.
This is an indication that the shop is registered
with the government, and is indeed "legit". If you are still in any
doubt, the heady scent of skunk will confirm it. Once inside, you can
smoke your own marijuana, if you buy drinks or food, or you can make a
selection from the smokers menu ?” (marijuana menu) which is normally
only shown on request. Prices for marijuana & hashish range from
Euro 2.70 to Euro 35.00 per gram, depending on the strength and rarity
of your choice.
If rolling your own is too much to master, you
can buy pre-rolled joints from 3 Euros and upward. Make sure you specify
weed or hash. If you don't like smoking, other options include eating
or drinking "space products" made from hash and weed. These range from
space cake and space bon-bons, to space tea and space milkshakes. Be
very careful with the amount you consume as the effects tend to "creep"
up on you. Before you know it, you may be wandering around babbling like
a junkie!
If you are having difficulty in choosing from among
the many coffeeshops, we suggest you begin with a place that has a
friendly staff, a relaxed atmosphere (these are usually alcohol free),
and a location not too far from your hotel. (A 5 minute stumble from
door to door is a good rule of thumb!) Most first timers end up in the
"big name" shops, but this can be a wrong move. The "tourist traps"
generally have lesser quality and higher prices. Having our legs broken
prevent us from listing these "sell-outs" but you probably can guess a
few! Finally, relax, don't get too paranoid, don't drink too much, and
enjoy.
